The Public Works Department is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm. The Public Works phone number is (919) 894-5864 and has emergency "on-call" workers 24 hours a day. Please contact the Police Department at (919) 894-2091 for after hours. This department is responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all streets and storm drainage structures; ice and snow removal; maintenance to sewer and water lines, including taps and valves, hydrants and town-owned utility pump stations; cutting grass, leaf removal and maintaining town-right of way and painting and repairing the town buildings. Public Works Department works hard to keep up the Town of Benson appearance and takes pride in giving great service to our community.

Information on the Town of Benson Water and Sewer Tap Fees

$400.00 for each 3/4" water tap, inside the city limits
$400.00 for each 4" sewer tap, inside the city limits
$600.00 for each 3/4" water tap, outside the city limits
$600.00 for each 4" sewer tap, inside the city limits

Taps larger than those listed above will be charged material and labor in addition to the basic charges. An example would be a 1" water tap costing $100.00 in additional material and labor, brining the total cost of the tap to $500.00 inside the city limits and $600.00 inside the city limits. However, this cost is an example and may change without notice.

Water Inside: $2.15 base charge and $3.84 per 1000 gal.
Water Outside: $3.15 base charge and $6.19 per 1000 gal.

Sewer Inside: $4.00 base charge and $3.42 per 1000 gal.
Sewer Outside: $5.00 base charge and $5.81 per 1000 gal.
