Fire Department

Mission Statement 

The primary mission of the Town of Benson Fire Department is to provide excellent fire protection during emergency responses, to prevent injury, and to protect property and the environment. We also provide vehicle extrication to accident victims, hazmat awareness level to hazmat incidents, medical responder level care, and public fire education to children and adults. The Benson Fire Department will strive to maintain the highest level of protection for those living, working, or traveling through our district.



Location & Staff


The Benson Fire Department responds to calls from the fire station located at 313 South Elm Street. The Department is staffed by two full-time, eight part-time, and five junior firefighters along with approximately 35 volunteers. The Benson Fire Department also conducts regular fire prevention and fire inspection programs in the Benson community.

  • To request a fire hydrant flow, contact the Benson Fire Department.
  • To report fire hydrants in need of repair, contact the Public Works Department.

Want to work with the Benson Fire Department?

To become a volunteer firefighter with the Benson Fire Department you must be at least 18-years-old. Please fill out a Town of Benson employment application as well as a volunteer firefighter application.


If you are between 16 and 18-years-old, you qualify for our junior firefighter program. To apply for one of these five positions, please fill out a Town of Benson employment application and a junior firefighter application.
