Mission Statement

As officers and staff of the Benson Police Department, we are committed to providing the highest quality law enforcement services to our residents, and visitors.

We recognize our responsibilities of protecting life and property, maintaining order, impartially enforcing the law, and serving our fellow man.

We will utilize progressive thinking, education, and compassion in our deliberations, and we will make fair and equitable decisions.

We believe that we are a part of the community we serve, and that with our combined efforts, we can improve the quality of life for our residents, and build a culture of partnership with them.

We recognize the dignity of each individual; no matter their race, sex, or national origin, and we will render services to our community with courtesy, empathy, and respect.

Our legacy will be the trust and faith our community has in us, and we will strive tirelessly to build, maintain, and honor those relationships.

Department Values

The five core values of the Benson Police Department are:  P  R  I  D  E

We will fulfill our duties to the best of our abilities.  We will exercise self-restraint and objectivity in the face of emotional and extreme circumstances.  We will maintain our appearance and skills, to project a positive image at all times.

We will treat each other, and the public, with impartiality and civility.  We recognize the sanctity of life, the dignity of all people, and we will use only that force necessary to accomplish our lawful duty.

We will consistently do what is right, what is legal, and what is moral.  We will communicate with honesty and transparency, and we will be consistent in our actions.

We will serve our community without fail.  We will assist each other to accomplish tasks, and we will provide aid to our community, and to others whenever called upon.  We recognize the law enforcement profession requires sacrifice, and accept that burden as our own.

We will strive for greatness in every action taken, and we will use our resources effectively and efficiently.  We are committed to solving problems through the use of innovation, communication, and effort.
